If i start walkin, i start in the baselayer and softshell. so the first 5 minutes might be cold, but i soon will open all zips. and shortly after that i stop to remove the softshell.
I know, it was hard for me to give up my Marmot Driclime windjacket until it dawned on me I could get the same service with an unlined windshirt and baselayer I was already wearing.
As a baselayer it would be for colder weather, considering the use of another insulation layer over it, but with just a wind shirt, in temps under 40 or so, I don't see it coming off very often for being too warm.
