Misusage

Re "girlfriend", I'd give the Times a pass since there seems to be no totally satisfactory alternative: "partner" is IMO simply misusage of a word with well-established meaning; companion sounds like an escort; "posslq" was awkward, too narrowly applicable, and for whatever reasons didn't fly. ❋ Unknown (2007)
