Ok, wow, I know alot of you people are defensive about rap, but you don't have to slam the rockers about it, because you are just contradicting yourselves! Rap is a form of music, and so is Rock, they both sound very different, but sometimes you can't distingish the difference in some songs! Seriously, the only thing that bothers me about rap is how some of the artists just put a "lil" before a name, made a few songs and became superstars! Alot of rockers have mad it easy by going with a fad as well, but i can't think of any right off hand. There are alot of different forms of rap and rock, like punk rock, grunge rock, gangsta rap, hip-hop! So no, not all rockers are hillbilly rednecks, so you guys can back off, and not all rappers are killer niggers with gats and hoes, so you guys can back off! Just remember, Racism can go BOTH ways!! For example, Sean "Puffy" Combs and his partner in mediocracy "Mace" proved in the 90's that it is possible to make a success in Rap music without even being able to get past the 1st round of a local Rapping competition. A sad example of where Rap music is today is that many Rap Producers of this generation, such as Timbaland and others, produce music for a "Gangsta" Rapper on month and then Produce the same style of beats for Britney Spears the next month. Popular Rap however is not the only genre at fault. Rap, Rock and Pop music are all plagued with the dominance of Record Companies and the force feeding of music to the public as documented in the recent proven instances of Record Companies paying money to large radio station DJ's to play certain artists' records more than others and sometimes even saturating the listening audience with the same song over and over again which when they are drunk at the club suddenly comes on and everybody goes, "Hey I know this song!" And suddenly the beat and delivery that you knew was shit the first 5 times you heard it on the radio, suddenly relates to you because your drunk and it's familiar. Urban Dictionary

Rap is a music genre.Its hated by many people that believe in the stereo type that only blacks make rap and its always about shooting cops, drugs, money and sex. Which leads to another stereo type that says all blacks like rap... 1.Not all blacks like rap. 2.Rap's not only for Blacks. 3.Not all rap is about money drugs and sex... 4.Not all people who like rap are black People who don't like rap, usually say "Rap is crap that has artists like 50 Cent." These are people who know nothing about rap, and judge it by what they see on TV. I will say this first. I listen to punk rock and not rap. the rap i have seen was on mtv or vh1 and therefore cannot judge it. However, those of you who are judging it need to listen to at least 5 minutes of 6 differnt rap artists before you can say anything about it. if you still hate it after doing this then shut up, keep your thoughts to yourself, and be tolerant. just like in punk rock most of the stuff that is played on mtv and vh1 is PROBABLY media garbage. the music that is underground probably has more meaning to it. for those of you that say rap is only about having sex with women, and shooting people than you you haven't heard other good rap songs(eminem's mockingbird and many others). A horrible genre of music that makes black people specifically black men look bad. The reason it is horrible is not because of the music itself but the culture that is associated with it. It is everything that is wrong with the african american community. It is one of the reasons that blacks are not doing as well as whites (not because the white man "brings us down") We bring ourselves down. It also spreads the stereotype that ALL black people listen to it, overshadowing the blacks who have varying taste in music. It is also one of the reasons that blacks (particulary males) who are educated, speak well, don't walk down the street screaming out rap songs, dress nice and are respectful of women are looked down upon by their own race and called "oreos" becasue they don't like rap. Rap may be a unique form of music that is associated with african american culture but the culture it creates is one of the worst things to happen to the black community. I dont realy know much shit bout rap but i know that loads of people have different interpretations of the meaning. I heard by one of my friends whos been a MC for around 8 yrs that it means (Rhythmic Artisic poetry. Common is what you call a rapper, Kanye is what you call a rapper, because they talk like poets in their lyrics. Others like 50 cent......What a fucking dickhead....I think he's sooo hypocritical...I think i have only heard 1 or 2 songs in all his albums that say something positive like ''too much violence or get rid of guns.'' He always cares about how gangsta he is or how much of a badboy he is, and how much cash he can fit in his trousers. Rappers like common and Kanye West are who i look up to. On Kanye's album, he has one song where he is talkin bout how much he cares for his mum, and what she has done for him when he was a child, and so on and so forth.....Do you ever see 50 cent doing that..NOO The music industry is one of the biggest industries in the world....So we gota do sumin special with it...Not just talk bout how much of a badman someone is?...Thats probaly how Ja rule and 50 got into Beef with each other, By being violent, or cussing each other. I live in England and most people over here are MC's. They always chat about how much cars they have and how much of a badman they are. Its soo silly...YOu cant make it in the music business by saying how much of a gangsta you are....it's been brought up from Gangsta rap....I fucking hate it.
