Spoiler - after reading the 2nd and 3rd book the maenad just goes away and bill is sent on "assignment" by the king of mississippi and is then taken hostage by his maker..meanwhile sookie is hanging around with a werewolf and eric trying to find out what happened to bill...long story short..the finale is def different from how the books begin and end from book 2 to book 3. ❋ Unknown (2009)

It's getting quite formulaic in that sookie is disappointed with Eric but loves him so much, Bill is hovering in the background and someone else is trying to kill her.
